Volkswagen Routan is Back and Better than Ever

Proof that you can't always trust what you hear: the Volkswagen Routan minivan is coming back for the 2011 model year. As it shares running gears with the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan, the 2011 Routan will get similar updates, starting with a revamped powertrain. The new Routan features a 3.8-liter Pentastar V6 engine matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Total power equates to a robust 283 horsepower (hp) and 260 lb.-ft. of torque.

Volkswagen's Electric Taxi Concept

London is famous for many things. There is large clock tower Big Ben, there is Buckingham Palace and there is also the famous London taxi's. Volkswagen looks to make these staples of the London atmosphere more energy efficient with their recent electric taxi concept.

Based on a previous concept from a few years ago, the Volkswagen electric taxi is run by a 115 horsepower (hp) electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. Volkswagen XL1 Gets 261 MPG

Volkswagen introduced several new vehicles at the Qatar Auto Show in the Middle East, but the rides, including a new super fuel efficient coupe, are ready for US consumption.

The German automaker is making claims that its has the most fuel efficient car ever produced: Formula XL1 concept. The car is capable of delivering 261 miles per gallon.

The lightweight, carbon fiber two-seater "achieves this incredible efficiency by combining a 47 horsepower, 800cc two-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with a 27 horsepower electric motor and an extremely streamlined body."
