Volkswagen Passat Contends to be Green Vehicle of the Year

Volkswagen knows a thing or about creating a truly green vehicle. In fact, their collective expertise has earned the Volkswagen Passat a spot as a finalist in running for the "Green Car of the Year" award, which is set to be given out at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show. You'll find no bigger fan of the Passat than people here at Platinum Volkswagen, which is why we'd like to take a minute to go over why we feel the vehicle should win.

One of the first things we should note about the award is that there are offerings from automakers around the world contending for it. As if the stakes weren't high enough, the running also features vehicles of all types and platforms, including hybrids, electric vehicles, and even natural gas powered ones. Still, the Passat seems to be holding its own, as it continues to win over more fans and critics each day.

"This year's Green Car of the Year finalists underscore that there is no single solution to our transportation challenges," said Ron Cogan, editor / publisher of Green Car Journal. "Here we have five exceptional answers to the question of how we're going to increase efficiencies, reduce tailpipe and CO2 emissions, and decrease petroleum use."1

What makes the Volkswagen Passat a contender? There are a number of reasons, but we here at 340 West Old Country Road Hicksville, NY 11801 are inclined to go with its 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter TDI engine or its 21 mpg city/33 mpg highway rating.

Of course, if you'd like to experience the thrill of driving the Passat for yourself, then be sure to arrange a test drive by contacting us online or by phone at (888) 693-5057. We can also answer any questions that you may have in regards to other models too, such as the Volkswagen Touareg, Volkswagen Eos, and Volkswagen Tiguan; the best ways to finance them; and how to ensure that they keep running like new for years down the road thanks to our dedicated Volkswagen parts and service departments. So, what are you waiting for?
