2024 Volkswagen Atlas vs. the Volvo XC90
The Volkswagen Atlas is a three-row SUV with plenty of space, capabilities, and impressive technology, but how does it fare against luxury rivals like the Volvo XC90? Westbury drivers may be surprised by all the standard features that make the new Atlas meet and exceed expectations. Find out why the new VW Atlas outclasses the competition with our competitive review of the new Atlas vs. the Volvo XC90 with our experts at Platinum Volkswagen near Hicksville, NY.

Powerful Standard Engine
Every new VW Atlas has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is an available upgrade for Syosset drivers who need additional traction, whether for light off-roading or driving confidently in all types of inclement weather. Although the VW Atlas only offers one powertrain, it is much more powerful than the standard engine for the Volvo XC90, which is a similarly sized 247-horsepower four-cylinder. The Atlas beats the standard Volvo XC90 with 269 horsepower. However, when properly equipped, both vehicles can handle recreational activities around Huntington, NY, and towing up to 5,000 pounds.
A Wealth of Comfort and Conveniences
The Volvo XC90 is richly designed with a minimalist aesthetic and premium materials. However, your passengers will be a lot happier riding around Bayside, NY, in all three rows of the Atlas because there are inches more legroom in the adult-friendly third row. The VW Atlas also offers many standard luxury features like ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel as basic equipment on the first trim level. The Volvo XC90 offers similar features and great standard equipment like steering adaptive LED headlights, keyless access, roof rails, and heated power side mirrors. However, the Atlas matches the equipment and offers it at a much lower starting price than the Volvo XC90.
Generous Standard Technology
The Volvo XC90 can't compete with this year's technology upgrade in the VW Atlas. All models now have a standard 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. The Volvo XC90 offers similar smartphone compatibility through its 9-inch touchscreen, but you will have to pay extra for wireless charging, which is now standard equipment in the Atlas.
